Tolanaro (Fort Dauphin), Madagascar
Commonly called Fort Dauphin, Tolanaro was an original French territory in Madagascar. Despite its occasional strong winds, Tolanaro is a great place to enjoy one of the sunniest and least humid locations on Madagascar’s east coast. Visitors will find various relaxing pastimes to explore during their stay, such as lounging on soft beaches, ambling through markets, tasting unique cuisine, or venturing into the dry-forests that surround the town. Attractions around the area include expanses of colonial architecture left over the years, the Anosy Museum, Libanona beach, and Fort Flacourt.
